University of Twente Scholarships Worth up to INR 22 Lakhs Now Open for Non-EU Students

Picture yourself studying in the Netherlands, canals around you, bikes everywhere, and one of Europe’s most innovative universities, the University of Twente (UT). Now add a scholarship that helps with your costs and even gives you access to special honours programmes. That’s what the University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) is all about.
It’s made for top students from non-EU/EEA countries who want to do their Master’s at UT. If that sounds like you, keep reading.
What’s in it for you?
The UTS gives you between €3,000 and €22,000 for one year. You decide how to use it, rent, books, maybe even a few Dutch stroopwafels.
If you’re in a two-year programme, here’s the sweet part: you could get the same amount in your second year too. But, there’s a catch, you need to keep up with the academic performance bar. Think of it like Netflix asking, “Are you still watching?”, only here it’s, “Are you still excelling?”
The Extras You Didn’t Expect
If you snag this scholarship, you also get an exclusive invite to apply for one of UT’s three honours programmes:
- Research Honours
- Design Honours
- Change Leaders
And here’s another cherry on top, the Kipaji Scholarship. It’s an additional scholarship you could get on top of UTS, but only if you’re applying for a September 2026 intake. (Pro tip: when applying, don’t forget to mention your interest in it.)
Who Can Apply?
Before you start dreaming about tulips and windmills, let’s check if you’re eligible:
- You’re from a non-EU/EEA country.
- You’ve been admitted (at least provisionally) to a UT Master’s programme starting September 2026.
- You’re top of your class, we’re talking the best 5–10% at your home university.
- You meet the English requirements: IELTS 6.5 overall (with at least 6.0 in speaking) or TOEFL iBT 90.
- You’re not a UT alum, current UT student, or eligible for Dutch statutory tuition fees.
And yes, the scholarship doesn’t cover all your costs, so make sure you can finance the rest of your stay in the Netherlands.
Application Deadlines You Can’t Miss
There are two rounds for applying:
- Round 1: Opens 15 October 2025 → Closes 1 February 2026 (16:00 CET)
- Round 2: Opens 1 February 2026 → Closes 1 May 2026 (16:00 CET)
Important: If you apply in Round 1 and get rejected, Round 2 is off-limits. One shot per academic year, make it count.
How to Apply?
- Step 1: Apply for a Master’s programme at UT.
- Step 2: Once you have your (conditional) admission letter + student number, you can apply for the scholarship.
- Step 3: Cross your fingers and maybe practice a happy dance.
Why UTS is Worth It?
This isn’t just a scholarship. It’s a launchpad into becoming one of UT’s most promising students, getting financial support, and stepping into a global community of innovators, designers, and leaders. If you’ve been waiting for a sign to take your next big leap, this is it, apply now.
