Scholarship amount details

These scholarships each have a maximum value of $15,000, or $5,000 per term for either 2 or 3 consecutive terms.

Eligibility

  • An applicant must meet the following requirements to access the online application and be considered for an OGS/QEII-GSST at Western:
  • Be a current graduate student or have applied for admission to a Western graduation program that is *eligible.
  • As of the OGS/QEII-GSST application deadline, you must be a Canadian citizen, a Permanent Resident, or a Protected Person [under subsection 95 (2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protections Act (Canada)].
  • If you have any queries about your graduate program's OGS eligibility, please contact them immediately.
  • If a candidate for an OGS/QEII-GSST is an international student with a valid Study Permit or has applied for admission to a Western program, they may be eligible for one of eight (8) OGS prizes for foreign students.
  • If an OGS/QEII-GSST applicant is a First Nations, Métis, or Inuit student (a person Indigenous to Canada, as defined in the Constitution Act, 1982, is a person who identifies with a First Nations (Status/Non-Status), Métis, or Inuit cultural and/or ancestral background), they may be eligible for one of two (2) OGS awards for Indigenous students.

Application Process

  • View your progress in each of the four components you must accomplish next.
  • Academic History - a synopsis of your previous academic achievement honor ours, and awards.
  • A proposal is a summary of the research you intend to conduct.
  • Referees - find two professors who will each write an academic recommendation for your OGS/QEII-GSST application and upload it.
  • You will be able to save and resume the application at any moment as you proceed through it. You will be able to ‘finalize and submit your application once your referees have given their recommendations. You will no longer be able to make changes or edits to your application once it has been ’finalized and submitted.' To be considered, your application must be 'finalized and submitted by the application deadline.
