While all of the areas mentioned below are popular with Boston University students, Allston/Brighton is frequently the top choice among off-campus students.

  • Allston/Brighton
  • Despite the fact that Allston and Brighton are two separate neighbourhoods with their own zip codes and personalities, this area is frequently referred to as "Allston/Brighton." This region is particularly popular among BU undergraduates due to its vibrant nightlife, affordable housing, and closeness to the western end of the Charles River Campus. Allston/Brighton is close to dozens of retail shops, restaurants, and bars and is only 20 minutes from downtown Boston via the Green Line. Despite the fact that BU and Boston College students predominate in Allston/Brighton, this residential region also houses families with strong ties to the area

 

  • Back Bay
  • Stately brownstones, Parisian-style boulevards, trendy stores, good dining, and upscale hotels characterize the Back Bay. Copley Square, the Boston Common, and the Commonwealth Avenue Mall a tree-lined park area set amid exquisite brownstones – are all part of the Back Bay, which spans from downtown Boston to the Kenmore/Fenway neighbourhood. Back Bay is house to some of Boston's most notable architectural structures, including Trinity Church, the Boston Public Library, and the Prudential Center. This area also includes Newbury Street, which has some of Boston's best shopping. Back Bay is one of Boston's most affluent neighbourhoods, and it shines brightest during the holiday season

 

  • Brookline & Coolidge Corner
  •  This vast residential community, located south and west of the Charles River campus, attracts undergraduates looking for a quieter environment, as well as graduate students, faculty, and staff. The Brookline Community's heart, Coolidge Corner, is located at the intersection of Harvard Avenue and Beacon Street. Take-out restaurants, gourmet dining, bookstores, boutiques, and real estate firms may all be found around Coolidge Corner. College students, working professionals, and retirees all live in this neighbourhood
