Career and professional development are highly valued in the Department of Statistical Science. Through our ProSeminar class and various courses, the university provides in-house support with resume writing, interviewing, communication, and presentation skills. In addition, possible companies and alumni come to the department particularly to offer MSS students information sessions, networking opportunities, and recruitment events. Throughout the Fall and Spring semesters, the department hosts a variety of career activities, including MSS Industry Day, Alumni Day, and the MS and PhD. Graduate Career Fair (sponsored by the Duke Career Center), among others.
The university encourages extensive interaction with the campus community through data dialogues, invited industry discussions, the DataFest competition, and other projects, allowing the students to learn more about statistics and data science and the issues that come with putting data to use.
